Rebecca Finley is the founding dean of the Jefferson School of Pharmacy at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. She received her bachelor’s and PharmD degrees from the University of Cincinnati and master’s degree in institutional pharmacy from the University of Maryland. She also completed a residency at the University of Cincinnati Hospitals.

For more than 18 years, Dr. Finley served in a variety of positions at the University of Maryland, including head of pharmacy services at the University of Maryland Cancer Center. She also served as chair of the Department of Pharmacy Practice and associate dean of the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy.

Prior to joining Thomas Jefferson University, Dr. Finley served as president of the Meniscus Educational Institute, a for-profit, accredited medical education company. She is chair-elect of the Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties and past president of the American Society of Health System Pharmacists. She served on the Agency for Health Care Policy and Research Cancer Pain Guideline expert panel, American Pain Society (APS) Clinical Practice Guideline Committee and APS Cancer Pain Guideline Committee.

Dr. Finley is past recipient of the W. Arthur Purdum Award from the Maryland Society of Health-System Pharmacists and the Sr. M. Gonzales Lecture Award from the Pennsylvania Society of Health System Pharmacists. She has served on editorial boards for several publications, including Annals of Pharmacotherapy and Highlights in Oncology Practice, and has delivered more than 300 presentations. She co-edited the book “Concepts in Oncology Therapeutics,” a self-instructional text for pharmacists, which was recognized for excellence in end-of-life content by the Last Acts Coalition and Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
